Arrived!

We made it! My bike took a little extra time (over 2 days) but we found each other again and are now getting ready to start pedalling. Let's stay short about the journey to NZ; it simply was very, very long. Didn't get to talk to anybody during the 11hr flight nor did I leave my window seat at all. So I got quite stiff. But found a spa to relax and swim in at Kuala Lumpur during my 6 hour wait which was a great idea (shoulder tapping myself for it right now actually). Then on the second flight, I offered the man next to me my brownie (really, it looked more like cooked cowshit) and we found out we were both Dutch. What a coincidence! We should have guessed it though - both at the emergency exit to give our long legs some space. He was on his way to Auckland for work as a nurse, to bring an ill patient all the way back to the Netherlands. What a job.. Much respect for so many flying hours in only 7 days!

Thursday around 2pm I arrived at Auckland, where "opa and oma" picked me up (the " signs are because they actually are my dads uncle and aunt but to me they feel like my grandparents). Unfortunately, no bike arrived. So besides catching up I've been exploring their hometown, Whangamata, the next very rainy 48 hours before my big bike-love-in-a-box finally found its destination too.
About that - any ideas for a name for my bike?! Ill send the winner an exclusive postcard from NZ so be creative!
Anyway, I'll put it together now and will probably take off Monday towards other family in Cambridge. Let's see if those legs still know what to do with the pedals and if my brain can cycle on the left side of the road as well😁.
